Pros and Cons of Counter & Bar Height Sets
7 Piece Adirondack Counter Height Set Pictured
Pros:
Big comfortable counter height chairs and bar height chairs work great for snacking, drinking and socializing. If you keep your chair 12" away from the table, you can enter and exit the chair without needing to move it much.
Cons:
COUNTER HEIGHT CHAIRS AND BAR HEIGHT CHAIRS WITH ARMS ARE NOT CONVENIENT FOR FORMAL EATING.
I can scoot a counter height chair up to the table in 1 or 2 seconds (small kids and people with health problems will find this difficult). You will need to lean forward to eat off of a plate with utensils. Plan on mostly keeping your counter height or bar height chair with arms 12" away from the table and think of your set as a gathering spot and not a formal eating set.
Brent's Advice:
If you buy a dining height set (30" high table) instead of a counter height set (36" high table) or bar height set (42" high table) it will be easier to scoot the chair up to the table and eat.
